One visit from Harry Styles and the world Goes Mad!

One visit from Harry Styles and the world Goes Mad!

This polite chap came into the Rose ‘N Crown Chophouse two weeks ago for a cup of peppermint tea with his friends. Being the polite young man he is, he poses for pictures with staff and then leaves having charmed customers and staff.

Now at 49, teenage culture is a little alien to me……….but did I learn quickly. I posted a couple of pictures on are on the twitter feed of the Belle Epoque mentioning the visit from Harry Styles to the Rose ‘N Crown. First our telephone was ringing off the hook, then our social media when completely berserk. 500 retweets in an hour!

Then from berserk, our accounts went into meltdown as 1D’ers, connected that we were a wedding venue and that Harry was obviously viewing the venue for himself before going for a drink next door. My phone was useless for the next five days as so many retweets and likes were being posted I couldn’t use it for anything else. It then went viral……..

Articles to date have appeared in The Knutsford Guardian, the Manchester Evening News, The Daily Mail, The Daily Mirror, The Times of India, Heat Magazine, plus a gazillion online articles and fan forums.

It is still being retweeted now several weeks later, over both accounts over 10k retweets and the same again in likes.

So Harry, we salute you sir and next time the peppermint tea is on us……

Jonny Draper Photographers Workshop, March 2016

Top North West Photographer Jonny Draper held a photographers workshop here to showcase just how amazing the photography could be in such a quirky venue as ours.

Here is what Jonny had to say;

“32 photographers over 4 different workshops across 2 nights at a stunning wedding venue. Hugely humbled that each time I released details of each workshop, it sold out in less than 24 hours. Wow. A MASSIVE thanks must go to Belle Epoque for opening the doors to their amazing venue and giving me the opportunity to show that things aren’t as scary as they seem in a beautiful low-lit, atmospheric venue like theirs”.

Winter portrait shoot at the Belle Epoque Monday, January 12, 2015

Winter portrait shoot at the Belle Epoque Monday, January 12, 2015

I recently took part in a really great styled shoot at The Belle Epoque in Knutsford. I always enjoy portrait shoots like these as I get to meet and work in a team alongside amazing suppliers and this shoot was no exception – everybody involved in the day was brilliant and I could not recommend them enough. Although it was a very cold day, we braved the chilly winter weather and took some photographs outside before heading in to the warmth of the Belle Epoque. We even had some snow too!

A huge thank you to all the fantastic suppliers who made the day what it was; make up by Maxine Smith, hair by Vicky M, styling by Jan Clarke, dresses from Pearl Bridal, flowers by Laurel Weddings and of course our two models, Jessica and Beth from Boss Model Management, who were absolutely amazing and so great to work with. It was also great to work alongside the brilliant photographer Toni Darcy and film maker Tom Loveridge.

Your usual table Mr Beckham?

It’s at this time of the year that I always remember our best Valentine’s Day Lunch.  It was 2001 and we didn’t open for lunch then, but we did this day with it being Valentine’s Day. The whole section of King Street was being resurfaced and not accessible by car.

Then in the middle of service, in walked David and Victoria Beckham.  As usual they were without bodyguards or an entourage, they were just after their “usual table”……….. our Tower table, one of the most romantic tables in Cheshire.  It was wonderful to see peoples’ reaction as it dawned on everybody who they were and how low key they were.  Just another happy couple wanting a

leisurely lunch.  It certainly sent a frisson throughout the restaurant and I’m sure made it a memorable lunch for many couples.

I doubt we will see them this Valentines lunch, although you never know………..

If you would like to book at the Belle Epoque for this Valentine’s day lunch please call 01565 633060, we are serving our famous Champagne Afternoon Tea…………..well we would wouldn’t we?

Lisa Stirling Vintage celebrates classic style at The Belle Epoque 2014

Over 80 ladies turned out to support Lisa Stirling Vintage at her annual fashion show last Thursday at The Belle Epoque, Knutsford. The event saw personal stylist and shopper Lisa Stirling celebrate all things vintage, with a lavish Belle Epoque style lunch. The ladies got the chance to peruse the individual items and make purchases in between enjoying champagne and relaxed fashion shows. The event was in aid of The Alzheimer’s Society, and included a charity auction and raffle raise almost £500 for the cause. Prizes were donated far and wide, but locally included Bentley Manchester, Boo Hair, Cocoranti and POP Perfumery. Guests also included Downton Abbey’s Sue Johnston. Speaking about the event and her choice to host it at The Belle Epoque, Lisa Stirling exclaimed “Passion really is my true love and passion, and The Belle Epoque couldn’t be any more about love and passion if it tried! The venue suited this event perfectly, classic, stylish and individual!”.

mingling downstairsKnutsford Rugby Club celebrated its 10th anniversary at The Belle Epoque this month with a very special guest. New Zealand-born rugby legend Henry Paul attended the event on Friday (17th Oct) as guest speaker.

Born in New Zealand, Henry Paul was a dual code rugby league and rugby union international. Previously representing New Zealand in rugby league and England in rugby union XV’s and 7’s, he once held the world record for the most consecutive kicks on the field.

2 knr hpPaul’s experience playing for a host of leading teams including Harlequins, Wakefield, Wigan and Bradford as well as a successful coaching career which saw him take Russia to the 2011 Rugby World Cup should assure guests of an interesting and inspiring talk. Moments of controversy in his career including his speech at the 2007 Man of Steel Awards also contribute to making this an event not to be missed.

hp looking rightSpeaking after the event, The Belle Epoque’s Matthew Mooney said “We are delighted that Knutsford Rugby Club chose to celebrate such a special anniversary with us. The venue has welcomed many sporting legends over the years, and Henry Paul will surely be one that stays in the memory following such an entertaining enlightenment in to his rugby career. I speak on behalf of the whole team here when I say a very happy birthday to Knutsford Rugby Club, and here’s to the next ten years”.

Literary Lunch a Success Story at the Belle Epoque as Cheshire Writer Celebrates

50 ladies turned out to enjoy the 2nd literary lunch held at The Belle Epoque in Knutsford on Thursday (9th October).

Organised by Sue France, the ladies enjoyed a morning workshop with motivational speaker Sue Tonks before settling down to a delicious lunch in the opulent surroundings of The Belle Epoque’s garden room.

A handful of authors dropped in to the King Street venue to share their books, but perhaps the most notable being Christie Barlow from Northwich who on Thursday celebrated number 1 spot in the ‘parenting humour’ charts on Amazon. Her book “ A Year in the Life of a Playground Mother” is a relatable and hilarious account of a mothers experience of the ‘front line’ that is – the school gates!

Cathy Gordon presented her late father’s rather light-hearted approach to living with MS in her book “In a MeSs”, and Dr Michelle Harvie presented “2Day Diet”, a book that has achieved worldwide recognition.

The literary lunch once again brought together some great opportunities for those aspiring to find a publisher. At the 2013 lunch, Susie Mathis met Elin-Elin Flint-Freel who went on to publish her late neighbours children’s book “Pop Goes To The Rescue”.

For Sue France, the decision to return to The Belle Epoque for her 2014 lunch was an easy one. “I chose The Belle Epoque to hold my first literary lunch in 2013 predominantly because the room was the perfect size, and I knew the Art Nouveau-inspired décor would create the perfect ambience for my event. I also knew the food would be fabulous! The ladies loved The Belle Epoque and so I had no hesitation in booking here again. Once again, the event has been a true success and I look forward to 2015”.
